Hotels in Tbilisi

The most convenient bases in Tbilisi are the Old Town (Abanotubani and Kala), walkable to the 5th-century Narikala Fortress and sulphur bathhouses; Rustaveli Avenue for galleries, theatres, and transit connections; Marjanishvili for restaurants and nightlife; and Vake for quieter, residential surroundings. Most visitors stay three to five nights. Tbilisi International Airport is 18 km from the centre, roughly 30 minutes by taxi.

Where to Stay in Tbilisi

Old Town divides into Abanotubani — the sulphur-bath district below Narikala — and Kala, the medieval core along the Mtkvari River. Both suit travellers who want to walk to the Metekhi Church, Leghvtakhevi waterfall, and the Dry Bridge market. Rustaveli Avenue anchors the 19th-century European quarter; the Georgian National Museum and Rustaveli Theatre are steps away, and the metro line runs underneath. Marjanishvili, across the river, draws younger travellers with wine bars and khinkali restaurants open late. Vake, 3 km west of Rustaveli, is a leafy district popular with longer-stay guests who prefer wide pavements and Vake Park.

Getting Around

Tbilisi Metro runs two lines and costs 1 GEL per journey. Marshrutka minibuses cover gaps in the network. The aerial tramway from Rike Park reaches Narikala in under five minutes. Metered taxis and ride-hailing apps (Bolt, Yandex) are reliable for late-night travel.
