Plan your stay in Ermioni, a quiet Peloponnese headland town with ferry links to Hydra, calm coves, and a historic old quarter on the Argolic Gulf.
Ermioni is a small coastal town on the southeastern tip of the Argolid peninsula in the Peloponnese, Greece. It sits on a narrow promontory that juts into the Argolic Gulf, with the open sea visible on three sides. The old quarter — called Kastri — occupies the tip of the headland and retains a dense grid of whitewashed houses, a pine-shaded coastal path, and several Byzantine-era churches. The working harbor anchors the modern town to the north, where fishing boats and private yachts share the same quay.
Most visitors arrive between May and October, drawn by calm swimming coves, direct ferry links to the nearby islands of Hydra and Spetses, and a pace of life noticeably quieter than the larger Peloponnese resorts. Greeks from Athens — roughly 170 km to the northeast via the E94 — make up a large share of seasonal guests, many arriving by car via the port of Porto Heli or by hydrofoil from Piraeus. The town also attracts sailors using Ermioni as a provisioning stop on Saronic Gulf routes.
The ferry connection to Hydra takes approximately 30 minutes and runs multiple times daily in summer, making Ermioni a practical base for island day trips without the higher accommodation costs of Hydra itself. The town has a small medical center, a post office, and a weekly street market held on Saturdays.
