The Sapporo Station area is the primary transportation and commercial hub of Japan's northern island. It centers on the station itself—a major terminal for JR Hokkaido trains, the subway system, and long-distance buses. This district contains large-scale department stores, underground shopping malls, and the landmark Stellar Place and Daimaru Sapporo buildings. It is the most convenient base for regional rail travel and winter sports access.
