Beneath the forested hills of Akiu Onsen — Sendai's oldest hot spring valley, 30km southwest of the city — Ryokusuitei is a traditional ryokan drawing mineral waters directly from the Yumoto source into open-air and indoor baths fed around the clock.

Rooms keep tatami flooring and sitting areas; mountain views face the cedar slopes rather than the road.
