Hotels in Chiado, Lisbon

Chiado is Lisbon's historic cultural and shopping district, located between Bairro Alto and Baixa. It's known for its elegant 18th-century architecture, theaters like the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, and classic cafés including A Brasileira with its statue of poet Fernando Pessoa. The area was rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1988.

The district is centered around the Rua Garrett pedestrian street and the Largo do Chiado square. It connects to the Baixa district via the Santa Justa Lift, a wrought-iron elevator from 1902. Chiado offers easy access to the Carmo Convent ruins and the São Jorge Castle.
