The beachfront strip between Hua Hin pier and Khao Takiab headland suits most visitors, with night markets and seafood restaurants within walking distance. The Cicada Market area and Soi 51 offer a quieter, residential feel. Hua Hin sits 200 km south of Bangkok — roughly 3.5 hours by train or 2.5 hours by road. Most stays run three to five nights.

Where to Stay

Hua Hin Beach Road (Thanon Damnoen Kasem to the pier) places guests at the heart of the resort strip, close to the night market and the 1920s-era railway station. Khao Takiab, at the south end of the 5 km beach, is quieter, with boutique properties at the base of a forested hill crowned by a temple. North Hua Hin, near the Sheraton and Centara Grand, is the resort-hotel corridor with direct beach access and pool facilities. Budget guesthouses cluster around Naresdamri Road in the old town, a short walk from the fishing pier and fresh seafood stalls.

Getting Around

Songthaews (shared pickup trucks) run fixed routes along the beach road for 20–40 THB. Motorbike taxis and tuk-tuks cover shorter gaps. Car and bicycle rentals are widely available near the clock tower roundabout. Hua Hin Railway Station connects to Bangkok Hua Lamphong and beyond; the overnight sleeper departs around 22:00.

• Timing: November to April brings dry, cooler weather; May to October is wetter but prices drop sharply.
• Royal protocol: Dress modestly when visiting Klai Kangwon Palace grounds — shoulders and knees must be covered.
• Connectivity: Hua Hin Airport handles select domestic and charter flights; most international arrivals use Suvarnabhumi, then road or rail.
• Cash: ATMs are plentiful on Phetkasem Road; many smaller seafood restaurants and market stalls are cash-only.
