About Ancient Thera

Ancient Thera es el yacimiento arqueológico de la ciudad de época clásica que se alza sobre la cresta del monte Mesa Vouno, en Santorini. Fundada por colonos dorios en el siglo IX a. C., estuvo habitada de forma ininterrumpida hasta la era bizantina. Entre las ruinas excavadas destacan murallas de época helenística, un teatro, zonas residenciales, templos y un ágora. Desde el recinto se divisan panorámicas de la costa oriental de la isla y del mar Egeo. Se puede llegar en coche por la carretera de acceso desde la playa de Kamari, o bien a pie por un sendero empinado que sube desde Perissa. El yacimiento está abierto al público, aunque el horario varía según la temporada.
