About Puerta del Sol
La Puerta del Sol es una de las grandes plazas públicas de Madrid y uno de sus principales nudos de comunicación. En ella se alza la Casa de Correos, antigua sede del correo oficial y hoy sede de la Comunidad de Madrid, cuya torre del reloj marca cada 31 de diciembre la cuenta atrás oficial de Nochevieja para toda España. En el centro de la plaza se encuentra el Kilómetro Cero de la red de carreteras nacionales, así como la escultura en bronce del Oso y el Madroño, símbolo por antonomasia de la ciudad. La Puerta del Sol es el punto de partida habitual para recorrer el casco histórico madrileño y se sitúa a aproximadamente 1,5 kilómetros al noreste del Palacio Real.
