La Rotonde compte parmi les monuments les plus anciens de Thessalonique. Érigée au début du IVe siècle apr. J.-C. comme mausolée romain, elle fut commanditée par l'empereur Galère avant de connaître une longue succession de fonctions : église chrétienne, puis mosquée.
