Hotels in Tirana

The most convenient bases in Tirana are Blloku for cafés, bars, and boutique hotels on streets once reserved for Communist Party elites; Zogu i Zi for a central position near Skanderbeg Square; and the Train Station district for budget accommodation with easy onward rail access. Most visitors stay two to three nights; Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza is 17 km northwest, roughly 25 minutes by taxi.

Where to Stay in Tirana

Blloku (The Block) transformed after 1991 from a sealed Party enclave into the city's social heart. Hotels here put guests within walking distance of Et'hem Bey Mosque (completed 1823) and the National History Museum on Skanderbeg Square. Zogu i Zi (Black Eagle roundabout) anchors the central grid and suits travelers focused on the National Gallery of Arts and the Pyramid of Tirana, the 1988 Hoxha mausoleum now repurposed as a tech and culture hub. The Rruga e Kavajës corridor west of the square offers mid-range hotels close to the main bus terminus for day trips to Durrës, 38 km away on the Adriatic.

Getting Around

Tirana's compact centre is walkable in under 20 minutes end to end. City buses cover outer neighborhoods; metered taxis and ride-hailing apps (Bolt operates widely) are reliable and inexpensive. The Autostrada A3 links Tirana to Shkodër (110 km north) in about 90 minutes.
