Río Sarapiquí Lodge

Beneath the forest canopy fringing the Sarapiquí River, Río Sarapiquí Lodge occupies a riverbank plot in El Muelle, the working waterfront quarter of Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí — a nature corridor town in the Caribbean lowlands, roughly 80km northeast of San José.

The lodge positions itself as a base for white-water rafting on Class III–IV sections of the Sarapiquí and for wildlife observation along river corridors where poison dart frogs, toucans, and river otters are regularly sighted. The surrounding lowland forest links directly to La Selva Biological Station, one of Central America's most-studied tropical research sites.

Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí attracts naturalists and adventure travellers rather than beach crowds; the town has a practical, unhurried character suited to early-morning guided boat tours and afternoon birding walks.
