Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel

Sixteen floors of neo-baroque stonework rise above Váci utca 36, where Matild Palace reopened in 2021 after a decade-long restoration of the 1901 Klotild Palace complex. The building's original caryatid reliefs and gilded ceiling vaults were preserved intact through the conversion.

Rooms combine period plasterwork with heated stone floors and blackout drapery; corner suites overlook the Elizabeth Bridge approach and the Buda hills beyond. The ground-floor Matild Café draws a Budapest crowd independent of hotel guests — a reliable sign the kitchen earns its keep.

Váci utca sits within a ten-minute walk of the Great Market Hall and three minutes from the Danube embankment. Deák Ferenc tér metro interchange, connecting all three Budapest lines, is four blocks north.
