About Bonemerse

Bonemerse

Bonemerse is a small comune in the Province of Cremona, Lombardy, northern Italy. The village sits on the Po Plain roughly 8 kilometres south of Cremona, a city renowned for its violin-making tradition dating to Antonio Stradivari in the 17th century. Bonemerse itself covers flat agricultural land typical of the lower Po Valley, where rice fields and dairy farms define the landscape and supply the region's Grana Padano PDO production.

Visitors to Bonemerse are mostly travellers using it as a quiet base for exploring Cremona's Piazza del Comune, home to the Torrazzo bell tower — at 111 metres one of the tallest medieval towers in Italy — and the Museo del Violino. The surrounding countryside also attracts cyclists following the Po riverside routes that connect Cremona to Casalmaggiore and beyond. The area sees limited independent tourism, making accommodation options modest but close to the SS10 road linking Cremona southward.

Cremonese cuisine, including mostarda di Cremona and tortelli cremaschi, is found in trattorias within a short drive. Cremona railway station connects to Milan in around 1 hour and to Mantua in approximately 50 minutes, making the area accessible for day trips across eastern Lombardy.
