Fiorenzuola d'Arda sits on the ancient Via Emilia in the Province of Piacenza, Emilia-Romagna — roughly 25 km southeast of Piacenza city and 90 km northwest of Parma. The Arda river gives the town its surname and marks the edge of the Po Valley plain here. Founded as a Roman road settlement, the town retains a compact historic centre anchored by the Collegiata di Santa Maria Assunta, a Romanesque-Gothic collegiate church whose bell tower is visible across the flat farmland. The central Piazza Molinari hosts a weekly market that has drawn traders from surrounding villages for centuries.

Visitors come primarily for agritourism and food — this stretch of the Po Valley produces Grana Padano, cured meats, and the local Ortrugo and Bonarda DOC wines from the Colli Piacentini hills a short drive south. Cycling is practical here: the flat Via Emilia corridor and marked rural routes connect Fiorenzuola to Piacenza, Fidenza, and the Colli Piacentini wineries. The town also draws motorsport fans — the Autodromo di Fiorenzuola, used for national and regional circuit racing, lies just outside the urban centre.
