Soragna sits in the Po Valley flatlands of Parma Province, Emilia-Romagna, roughly 25 km northwest of Parma city. The town is anchored by the Rocca di Soragna, a feudal castle continuously inhabited by the Meli Lupi family since the 14th century and open to guided tours. That combination — a living aristocratic residence with original furnishings and frescoed halls — sets Soragna apart from the fortified ruins typical of the region.

Visitors arrive primarily for two reasons: the castle and the surrounding food production zone. The nearby Museo del Salame di Felino and several cured-meat producers operate within a short drive, making the area a practical base for touring Parma's Food Valley corridor. Cyclists use Soragna as a stop on the Via Francigena cycling routes crossing the Po Plain. The town hosts the Fiera di Soragna, an autumn agricultural fair drawing regional producers.

Soragna's accommodation options are limited — small hotels and agriturismo farms rather than large chains. Most properties are within walking distance of the historic centre and the castle grounds. Parma Centrale railway station, with connections to Milan and Bologna, is approximately 30 minutes by car.
