About Negril

Negril: Seven Miles of White Sand and Cliff-Top Sunsets

Negril sits on Jamaica's westernmost tip, roughly 80 km from Montego Bay's Sangster International Airport. The town is defined by two contrasting shores: the flat, reef-sheltered Seven Mile Beach stretching north through Bloody Bay toward Rutland Point, and the dramatic West End cliffs dropping 10–15 metres into the Caribbean. Both attract distinct traveler types — families and all-inclusive guests gravitate toward the beach strip, while backpackers and boutique-hotel guests favor the quieter cliff road.

Where to Stay in Negril

Accommodation clusters in two corridors. Norman Manley Boulevard runs the length of Seven Mile Beach and holds the majority of large resorts. The West End Road hosts smaller guesthouses and cliff-side hotels perched above natural swimming coves. Rick's Café, a long-running cliff-diving venue on West End Road, draws crowds each evening as sunset approaches — properties within walking distance book quickly in high season (December–April).

Practical Tips

  • Getting there: Shared shuttle from Montego Bay takes about 90 minutes; private transfers run faster.
  • Currency: Jamaican dollars accepted everywhere; USD widely taken at resorts.
  • High season: Mid-December through April brings peak rates and full occupancy — book 6–8 weeks ahead.
  • Reef access: Seven Mile Beach has designated swim zones; snorkel gear rents from beach vendors near Vendor's Plaza.
