The Fujiya Hotel

Twelve kilometers up the Hayakawa valley from Hakone-Yumoto, The Fujiya Hotel has welcomed guests to Miyanoshita since 1878, making it Japan's oldest Western-style resort. The main building's flower-painted corridors and pitched wooden rooflines have hosted Charlie Chaplin and John Lennon.

Hakone's open-air sculpture museum is a fifteen-minute walk; the Romancecar limited express from Shinjuku reaches Hakone-Yumoto in 85 minutes, with a local bus connecting directly to the hotel's front gate.
