Senkei

Eight-room ryokan in Hakone's Yumoto hot-spring district, Senkei occupies a traditional timber building beside the Hayakawa river, where guests exchange street shoes for slippers at the genkan entry.

The property's open-air bath draws directly from Yumoto's sulfur-tinged thermal source; a separate public bath and massage room round out the bathing options. The restaurant serves kaiseki-style meals timed to check-in; the bar stays open late for guests returning from the village's lantern-lit alley bars.

Yumoto sits at the Hakone Tozan line's base station, fifteen minutes by bus from the Odakyu Romancecar terminal at Odawara. Owakudani and Lake Ashi are forty minutes uphill — short enough for a day loop before returning to soak.
