Kashikojima Hojoen

Six tatami-floored rooms overlook Ago Bay from this intimate ryokan on Kashikojima, the southernmost island of Shima's Ise-Shima National Park — one of Japan's most sheltered pearl-farming inlets. The open-air hot spring bath draws directly from a natural source and faces the bay's calm water, making dawn soaks a reliable ritual.

Dinner and breakfast are served in-room kaiseki style, timed to guest preference. Beyond the onsen, the property holds a sauna, spa facilities, and a chapel-shrine on the grounds — unusual even among five-star ryokan.

Kashikojima Station on the Kintetsu Shima line is walkable, connecting to Nagoya in roughly two hours without transfer. The shuttle service covers the gap for arriving guests.
