Naga Lodge

Twenty-four hours from Bangkok by slow boat up the Mekong, Naga Lodge occupies the Ban Xieng Muark quarter of Luang Prabang, set back from the river among garden greenery with mountain views across the valley.

Rooms feature hardwood floors, mosquito nets, and private balconies facing either the garden or the hills. Shared bathrooms are the standard configuration here — a hostel-style arrangement offset by daily housekeeping, bathrobes, and wine service that reads more like a guesthouse-inn hybrid than a dormitory.

The lodge runs its own restaurant and bar with outdoor dining, a sun deck, and a picnic area. Bicycle rental and marked cycling routes make the UNESCO old town — roughly two kilometres away — easy to reach without a tuk-tuk. Hiking trails into the surrounding hills begin near the property entrance.
