Dar Maktoub

Wrapped around a courtyard on the banks of the Oued Souss, Dar Maktoub sits well outside Agadir's hotel strip, on the piste bordering the river estuary south of the city. Rooms open onto tiled arcades rather than corridors, and the estuary marshes draw herons and flamingos visible from the terrace at dawn.

The kitchen serves tagines built around river-mouth fish rather than the tourist-menu standards found along the beachfront. Agadir's marina and main beach lie a short drive north, making this a quiet base for travellers who prefer birdlife and river calm to promenade crowds.
