Dar Fangui

Forty-eight steps of tiled corridor lead from the street into Dar Fangui, a riad off Derb Rehala tucked deep in the Marrakech medina, where thick clay walls keep the courtyard cool through the afternoon call to prayer from nearby Ben Youssef.

Rooms open onto the central patio rather than corridors, each with hand-carved cedar doors and tadelakt plaster finishes. Breakfast is taken on the rooftop terrace, with the Koutoubia minaret visible above the medina rooftops.

Jemaa el-Fna lies a ten-minute walk through the souks, close enough for evening visits, far enough to stay quiet at night.
