Maison Do

Forty paces off Rue Riad Zitoun el Kedim, Maison Do occupies a restored riad in the Medina's tanner's quarter, its courtyard open to the sky and lined with tadelakt walls in ochre and lime. Rooms wrap the fountain on two floors, each named rather than numbered, with carved cedar doors salvaged from a demolished kasbah nearby.

Breakfast is taken on the roof terrace, msemen and amlou served with a view over satellite dishes toward the Koutoubia minaret ten minutes' walk north. Jemaa el-Fnaa lies close enough for an evening stroll, far enough that the riad stays quiet after dark.
