Riad Kniza

Built around a 300-year-old central courtyard in Bab Doukkala, Riad Kniza occupies a former merchant family's residence whose carved cedarwood ceilings and original zellige tilework remain the main decorative statement throughout.

Eleven rooms and suites each carry different proportions; the upper terrace suites gain private plunge pools while ground-floor rooms open directly onto the fountain courtyard. The in-house hammam uses traditional black soap and kessa mitt treatments rather than spa-menu approximations.

Bab Doukkala sits at the northwestern edge of the medina, roughly ten minutes' walk from Jemaa el-Fna and closer still to the Mouassine fountain quarter. Kniza's antique-dealer owners have placed museum-quality pieces through the common areas — guests are encouraged to ask about individual objects.
