Dar Mayssane

Wrapped around a central riad courtyard inside the Bab al Alou gate, Dar Mayssane occupies a traditional house in Rabat's old medina, a five-minute walk from the Oudayas Kasbah and its clifftop gardens over the river mouth. The narrow lanes rule out cars, making it a fit for travellers happy to arrive on foot with light luggage.

Rooms open onto the tiled courtyard rather than a corridor, and breakfast is served there under the citrus tree. Staff arrange taxi pickup at the nearest square, since no vehicle reaches the door directly.
