Stare Miasto was rebuilt brick-by-brick after World War II and gained UNESCO World Heritage status in 1980; small boutique hotels and guesthouses line cobbled streets near the Royal Castle. Praga, across the Vistula on the east bank, offers converted lofts and independent cafés around Różyckiego Bazaar, with lower nightly rates and a rawer character that suits younger travellers. Mokotów, south of centre, attracts business travellers with corporate hotels near the financial district.

Getting Around

Two metro lines (M1 and M2) cross at Świętokrzyska station and cover the main tourist corridor. Trams and buses extend city-wide. The SKM urban rail connects Warszawa Centralna to Chopin Airport (WAW) in roughly 20 minutes for around 4.40 PLN.
