Wrapped within a working wine estate along Franschhoek's R45, Rickety Bridge places guests among vine rows with the Franschhoek mountains rising on three sides — the manor dates to the early 19th century and the winery remains in daily production.

Adults-only accommodation means the outdoor pool and terrace stay quiet through the afternoon. The estate restaurant draws on its own cellar rather than a wine list, and special-diet menus are available on request. Bicycles are available for the flat stretch into Franschhoek village, roughly two kilometres along the Main Road.

Horseback riding and hiking trails connect directly from the property. The Franschhoek Wine Tram stops nearby, linking the valley's producers without requiring a car.
