Nopparat Thara, 2 km west, offers a quieter seafront with fewer crowds. Railay Beach — reachable by a 15-minute longtail boat — has no road access. Krabi International Airport is 25 km away, roughly 30 minutes by road.

Where to Stay Along the Krabi Coast

Ao Nang Beach is the commercial centre: beachfront hotels, tour operators, and seafood restaurants line Moo 2 road. It suits first-time visitors and those catching early longtail ferries. Nopparat Thara sits within the Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park boundary; the beach is wider and uncrowded, with a handful of mid-range guesthouses and resorts set back from the sand. Travelers prioritising direct beach access over nightlife prefer this end. A third option is the hillside zone above the Ao Nang pier, where resorts offer Andaman Sea views and slightly lower road noise.

Getting Around

Songthaews (red pickup trucks) run between Ao Nang and Krabi Town (18 km) throughout the day for approximately 50 THB per person. Longtail boats to Railay Beach depart from the Ao Nang pier when waves allow — the crossing takes 15 minutes. High-season ferries to Ko Phi Phi take 45 minutes; low-season schedules reduce to one or two departures daily.

Practical Tips

• Season: November to April is dry season; May to October brings southwest monsoon swells that can suspend longtail service.
• Ferry booking: Book Phi Phi ferries a day ahead during Thai New Year (mid-April).
