Where to Stay

Bondi Beach, 8 km south-east of the CBD, attracts surfers and longer-stay travellers who prefer a coastal pace. Manly, on the northern beaches, suits visitors who want a quieter harbour base without central-city noise.

Getting Around

The Airport Link train connects the International Terminal to Central Station in 13 minutes and Circular Quay in roughly 20 minutes. The Circular Quay ferry terminal links the CBD to Manly, Taronga Zoo, and Parramatta by water. The Opal card covers trains, buses, ferries, and light rail, with a daily fare cap.

Practical Tips

• Airport transfer: Board the Airport Link at T1 International or T2/T3 domestic terminals; no transfer required to reach Central Station.
• Best months: March–May and September–November offer temperatures of 17–23 °C and lighter crowds than the December–January peak.
• Beach safety: Swim between the red and yellow flags at patrolled beaches; rips are common at Bondi and Manly year-round.
• Day trip: The Blue Mountains, 80 km west, are reachable by train from Central Station in about two hours.
