Casa Valparaluz

Sixteen rooms across two restored Victorian-era houses on Ricardo de Ferrari 483, Casa Valparaluz occupies one of Valparaíso's hillside cerros where corrugated-iron facades and hand-painted murals line every staircase street.

The property's elevated position means most rooms face the bay rather than the adjacent hillside, a rare alignment in a city where building angles are dictated by steep terrain. Common areas retain original timber ceilings and tile flooring rather than a renovated-smooth interior.

The cerros connect to the lower port district via the city's historic funiculares, two of which stop within a five-minute walk. Nearby Cerro Alegre concentrates the majority of the city's independent restaurants and wine bars.
