Hotels in Zadar

The most practical bases in Zadar are the Old Town peninsula for proximity to the Sea Organ and Roman Forum; Brodarica/Višnjik for quieter streets with easy bus access; and Borik for beach-side stays 4 km northwest of the centre. Most visitors stay two to three nights; Zadar Airport (ZAD) is 8 km east, roughly 15 minutes by taxi.

Where to Stay in Zadar's Key Districts

Old Town (Poluotok) sits on a narrow peninsula jutting into the Zadar Channel. Hotels here place guests within a 5-minute walk of the Roman Forum (1st century BC), the Church of St. Donatus, and Alfred Hitchcock's famously praised sunset view from the Riva promenade. Accommodation is dense and books early in July–August.

Borik, 4 km northwest along the coast road, clusters larger resort-style properties around a pine-shaded shingle beach. It suits families and travellers arriving by car. Local bus line 5 connects Borik to the Old Town in around 20 minutes.

Brodarica and the Višnjik neighbourhood occupy the landward approach to the peninsula, offering mid-range hotels and apartments at lower nightly rates than the Old Town, still within 10–15 minutes on foot or by bike.

Getting Around

Zadar's Old Town is car-free; pedestrians cover it end-to-end in 15 minutes. City buses run frequently across the wider urban area. The ferry terminal on Liburnska obala connects to the islands of Ugljan, Pašman, and routes to Ancona, Italy (operated by Jadrolinija). Plitvice Lakes National Park is roughly 130 km inland — a standard day-trip by car or organised tour.

• Arrival: Book airport transfers ahead in peak season; taxis are metered but scarce late at night.
• Timing: Old Town hotel rates peak mid-July to late August; shoulder season (May, September) offers cooler temperatures and lower prices.
• Currency: Croatia adopted the euro (€) in January 2023; card payments are widely accepted.
• Island hops: Purchase Jadrolinija ferry tickets at the terminal or online; morning departures to Ugljan run from 05:30.
