Kashta Nubian Guest Houst

Built on Elephantine Island in the middle of the Nile at Aswan, Kashta Nubian Guest House places guests inside a working Nubian village rather than on the tourist bank opposite. The absence of cars is immediate — arrival is by motorboat, and the island's sand paths stay quiet after dark.

Rooms follow traditional Nubian construction: thick mud-brick walls hold the heat out, hand-painted doorframes mark each entrance. The rooftop terrace faces directly onto the Nile's west bank and the desert escarpment beyond, with Kitchener's botanical island visible to the north.

Elephantine holds active archaeological excavations alongside the village; the site museum is a short walk from the guesthouse. Aswan's spice market and the felucca landing are a five-minute boat ride across.
