About Aime-la-Plagne

Aime-la-Plagne: Gateway to the Paradiski Domain

The commune of Aime-la-Plagne occupies the Tarentaise Valley in Savoie, at roughly 690 metres above sea level, and serves as the valley base for the La Plagne ski area. La Plagne's 11 resort villages span altitudes from 1,200 m to 3,250 m, with 225 km of marked pistes. A gondola from Aime 2000 at 2,100 m plugs directly into the Paradiski network, which bridges La Plagne and Les Arcs for a combined 425 km of skiable terrain — one of the largest lift-linked domains in Europe. Summer visitors come for mountain-biking trails and paragliding from the Roche de Mio ridge.

Where to Stay

Accommodation divides between the old market town of Aime on the valley floor and the ski-in/ski-out satellite of Aime 2000. Valley-floor hotels offer lower nightly rates, a weekly Saturday market, and the 11th-century Basilique Saint-Martin de Aime, a Romanesque landmark open year-round. Mid-mountain properties cut the ski-boot walk to near zero and suit families targeting early first lifts. The town anchors roughly 30 hotels and apartment residences across both zones.

Practical Tips

  • Season: Lifts run mid-December to late April; reliable snow cover above 1,800 m.
  • Access: Bourg-Saint-Maurice TGV station sits 18 km north; shuttle transfers take under 30 minutes.
  • Lift passes: Paradiski passes cover both La Plagne and Les Arcs without a surcharge.
  • Summer: July and August bring trail-running events on the Col de la Chal circuit.
