Te Manu Lodge Tikehau

Forty-eight kilometres northeast of Papeete by Air Tahiti prop flight, Te Manu Lodge sits on a private motu inside Tikehau's coral atoll — one of French Polynesia's least-visited atolls despite its pink-sand beaches and dense manta ray population.

The lodge operates at small scale, keeping guest numbers low enough that staff-to-guest ratios stay personal. Overwater and garden bungalows face the lagoon's turquoise interior; snorkelling directly off the pier reaches live coral without a boat transfer.

Tikehau village, a ten-minute bicycle ride along the motu path, holds a small market and the atoll's only fuel dock. Return flights to Papeete connect twice daily, making a two-night stay viable before onward island-hopping.
