Umaid Bhawan Palace Jodhpur

Set atop a 26-acre hillock above Jodhpur's old city, Umaid Bhawan Palace divides into three wings: the royal family's private residence, a museum of Art Deco Maharaja-era artifacts, and the hotel itself — one of the world's last great palaces built for habitation rather than converted from ruin.

The spa runs Ayurvedic treatments alongside Western therapies, with a restored indoor pool beneath a hand-painted dome dating to the 1940s construction. Tennis courts, horseback riding, and yoga classes fill the grounds, while the Pillars restaurant plates Rajasthani thali alongside continental menus.

Jodhpur's clock tower bazaar sits roughly 4km downhill — the palace's position keeps noise and traffic entirely absent. Mehrangarh Fort, the blue city's anchor monument, is visible from most garden terraces.
