Forty minutes east of Killarney town, Stable Lodge at Gortahoosh takes its name from the converted outbuildings that frame the Glenflesk mountain views visible from most rooms. The address sits well clear of the coach-tour routes that crowd the lakefront road in high summer.

Nine stays logged so far return a 9.7 rating — a small sample, but one that points to a consistent welcome rather than a lucky streak. The Glenflesk valley provides a quieter gateway into the national park than the main Killarney approach, with the Black Valley walking routes accessible without routing through town.

The MacGillycuddy's Reeks rise to the west, and the Ring of Kerry road passes within reach, making the lodge a practical base for walkers and drivers who prefer to avoid the busier guesthouses clustered around Killarney centre.
