Chianchitta is a small coastal frazione within the municipality of Acireale, set on Sicily's eastern Ionian shore roughly 15 kilometres north of Catania. The hamlet sits at the base of lava-rock cliffs formed by historic Etna eruptions, giving the shoreline its characteristic dark stone platforms and shallow coves. Acireale's Baroque cathedral and thermal spa facilities are a short drive inland, while the Riviera dei Ciclopi — named for the basalt sea stacks offshore — runs directly along the waterfront.

Visitors come primarily for sea access during summer, with the lido season running May through September. The area also draws travellers using Catania Fontanarossa Airport, located approximately 20 kilometres south, as a base for Mount Etna excursions. Linguaglossa and the Etna Nord cable-car station are reachable within 45 minutes by car. Budget travellers and families tend to favour Chianchitta over central Catania for lower nightly rates and quieter streets without sacrificing coastal proximity.

Local transport links include the Ferrovia Circumetnea narrow-gauge railway and the FCE Acireale bus line connecting to Catania's central station. Most accommodation here consists of small guesthouses and family-run B&Bs rather than large hotel chains.
