Pollein is a small municipality in the Aosta Valley, sitting on the eastern outskirts of Aosta at roughly 600 metres above sea level. The village overlooks the confluence of the Dora Baltea and Buthier rivers and offers direct views toward the Gran Paradiso massif and Mont Blanc range. Administratively separate from Aosta yet only 3 kilometres from the Roman city centre — including the Arch of Augustus (25 BC) and the Roman Theatre — Pollein functions as a quiet residential base with fast access to the regional capital.

Visitors tend to be hikers, cyclists, and winter sports travellers using Pollein as an affordable alternative to pricier Aosta accommodation. The Gran Paradiso National Park entrance is reachable within 30 minutes by car via the Cogne valley road. Ski areas at Pila (15 km) and Champoluc (50 km) draw guests between December and April. The village itself lies along the Via Francigena pilgrimage route, attracting long-distance walkers crossing the Great St Bernard Pass.
