JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge

Forty tented suites perched above the Mara River place JW Marriott's first African lodge at the edge of one of wildlife's most dramatic corridors — the wildebeest crossing route between Tanzania's Serengeti and Kenya's Masai Mara reserve.

The lodge draws on Maasai craft traditions in its interior detailing: hand-stitched leather headboards, beaded lamp shades, and ochre-washed canvas walls that reference boma architecture without recreating it as pastiche. Each suite carries an outdoor deck with direct sightlines to the floodplain below.

Flights connect via Nairobi Wilson Airport to the Mara's private airstrips in under an hour, bypassing the long overland route from Nairobi entirely. Game drives operate at dawn and dusk in open 4x4s guided by Maasai trackers with community ties to the surrounding conservancy land.
