Hotels in Casablanca

The most practical bases in Casablanca are the Quartier des Habous for traditional architecture and souks; Maarif for mid-range hotels and restaurants; Ain Diab along the Corniche for beachfront stays; and Centre-Ville near the Hassan II Mosque for transit links. Most visitors stay two to three nights; Mohammed V International Airport is 30 km from the city centre, around 30 minutes by train.

Where to Stay in Each District

Centre-Ville places guests within walking distance of the Hassan II Mosque, completed in 1993 and rising 210 metres — the tallest minaret in the world. The neighbourhood also connects to the Casa Port and Casa Voyageurs rail stations. Maarif draws business travellers and mid-range visitors with a dense grid of cafés, Lebanese restaurants, and retail streets. Ain Diab along the Corniche El Aïn Diab suits visitors who want Atlantic-facing hotels with access to beach clubs. Habous, built by French planners in the 1930s as a planned medina, offers a quieter atmosphere near the Royal Palace.

Getting Around

Casablanca's Tramway (Line 1) links Sidi Moumen to Ibn Tofail in the west, passing through Centre-Ville. Petit taxis are metered and cover most urban trips within 20–40 MAD. Trains run from Casa Voyageurs south to Marrakech in around 3 hours and north to Rabat in 1 hour.

Practical Tips

• Airport transfer: The ONCF train from Mohammed V Airport to Casa Voyageurs runs every 30 minutes and takes 35 minutes.
• Currency: The Moroccan Dirham (MAD) is not freely convertible; exchange money on arrival.
• Dress: Dress modestly when visiting the Hassan II Mosque or Habous quarter.
• Best months: April–May and September–October bring mild Atlantic temperatures, typically 20–24 °C.
