Ryad Bab Berdaine

Forty steps down Derb Moussa from Bab Berdaine, one of Meknès medina's monumental green-tiled gates, this riad occupies a restored courtyard house behind an unmarked wooden door typical of the old imperial city's residential quarters.

Rooms open onto a tiled patio rather than corridors, with a rooftop terrace used for breakfast and evening tea service. The kitchen runs cooking classes built around Meknassi tagines.

The medina's souks and Bou Inania madrasa lie within a ten-minute walk, making the riad a fitting base for travellers touring on foot rather than by car.
