The Dwarika's

The heritage sanctuary on Battisputali Road, The Dwarika's was built around salvaged medieval woodcarvings rescued from Kathmandu's demolished Newari houses — over 3,000 hand-collected pieces frame doorways, windows, and courtyard columns throughout the property.

Rooms follow Newari palace proportions: low carved lintels, brick-and-timber walls, and hand-knotted Tibetan wool rugs. The Krishnarpan restaurant offers a set tasting progression of up to 22 traditional Nepali courses, one of the few places in the valley treating courtly cuisine as fine dining.

Battisputali sits roughly 2km east of Thamel's backpacker strip, removing guests from street noise while keeping Pashupatinath temple within a ten-minute walk. The property's own cultural centre runs pottery and thangka-painting workshops on-site.
