About Boracay

Boracay: White Beach, Willy's Rock, and the Sibuyan Sea

Boracay is a 10-km island in Aklan Province, roughly 315 km south of Manila. Its western shore, White Beach, stretches 4 km of powdered coral sand and is divided into three stations — Station 1 (quieter, wider sand), Station 2 (restaurants and bars), and Station 3 (budget guesthouses). The Philippine government closed the island for rehabilitation from April to October 2018, and the reopening imposed stricter environmental rules, limiting total tourist capacity and banning single-use plastics on the beach.

Where to Stay in Boracay

Most hotels anchor along White Beach Road or the parallel Main Road. Station 1 holds the larger resort properties, while Bulabog Beach on the east coast draws kitesurfers from November to April when the Amihan (northeast trade wind) blows steadily. Diniwid Beach, just north of Station 1, offers smaller boutique stays with fewer crowds.

Practical Tips

  • Getting there: Fly into Caticlan Airport (MPH), then take a 15-minute bangka boat transfer; Kalibo Airport (KLO) is 2 hours by van plus the boat crossing.
  • Best season: November–April for calm western waters; May–October sees rougher surf but lower hotel rates.
  • Environmental fee: A tourism and environmental fee is collected at the Caticlan jetty — keep the receipt for island entry.
