Casa na Travessa

Beyond the archway leading into Faro's walled Cidade Velha, Casa na Travessa occupies a quietly restored townhouse on Travessa da Mota, steps from the cathedral square and the Roman foundations beneath it.

Rooms open onto a small interior patio typical of Algarvian urban houses; the building retains its original terracotta floors and whitewashed courtyard walls. Breakfast is served at the communal table when the house is full.

Faro is the Algarve's regional capital rather than a beach resort — the old town sits on a lagoon edge inside the Ria Formosa natural park, with ferry access to barrier-island beaches twenty minutes by boat. The airport is four kilometres east.
