Meia Praia is Lagos' longest beach, stretching over 4 kilometers along the Algarve coast. This golden-sand haven offers a more relaxed atmosphere compared to the bustling city beaches, with plenty of space for sunbathing, beach sports, and leisurely walks. The shallow waters make it family-friendly, while the western end near the cliffs attracts surfers when the waves pick up.
Meia Praia's vast shoreline means you'll always find a quiet spot, even in peak season. Beach bars dot the coastline, serving fresh seafood and cocktails with ocean views. Volleyball nets are often set up, and kayak rentals let you explore calmer sections of the coast. Unlike smaller coves, this beach never feels crowded.
The wooden boardwalk at the eastern end leads to the Alvor estuary, a protected wetland teeming with birdlife. Walking the full length of Meia Praia at low tide reveals tidal pools and sandbanks. The lack of urban development directly behind the beach preserves a natural dune ecosystem.
