Reid's Palace, A Belmond Hotel, Madeira

Fourteen acres of clifftop garden above Funchal Bay have defined Reid's Palace since Winston Churchill painted watercolours here in the 1950s — a guest history that stretches back to the hotel's 1891 founding on the Estrada Monumental.

Four outdoor pools step down toward the Atlantic, with a dedicated kids' pool and sun terraces facing south.
