Five rooms on Sinhapura Road at the quieter northern fringe of Arugam Bay, Drift sits close enough to the main point break that guests can hear the surf from their balconies without dealing with the hostel strip's noise.

Each room has a private bathroom, air conditioning, and access to a shared kitchen — an arrangement that suits the surfers and slow travelers who make up most of the guest list. The garden provides shade through the midday heat, and on-site parking removes the usual motorbike-rental calculation for those arriving by car from Colombo or Batticaloa.

Arugam Bay's peak surf season runs May through October. Pottuvil Lagoon, worth a morning canoe or birdwatching detour, lies under ten minutes north by road.
