Rustic Cabanas & Restaurant

Anchored on Main Point Road at the surf-famous southern end of Arugam Bay, these cabanas sit within walking distance of the point break that draws longboarders from February through October each year.

Rooms are simply fitted — air conditioning, private bathrooms, and electric kettles cover the essentials without excess. Family rooms are available, and the on-site restaurant handles both dine-in and room service, drawing on Sri Lankan coastal staples alongside traveller staples. The bar and garden give guests a reason to stay put at dusk.

Arugam Bay is a small, unhurried strip on Sri Lanka's east coast, about 120km south of Batticaloa. The surrounding lagoons shelter crocodiles and wading birds — worth an early morning tuk-tuk detour before the surf crowd arrives.
