Patong Beach sits on Phuket's west coast, roughly 15 km southwest of Phuket Town, facing the Andaman Sea. The 3-km arc of sand is Thailand's most visited beach resort, drawing over 3 million visitors annually. The waterfront road, Thanon Thaweewong, runs the full length of the bay and connects directly to Bangla Road, the pedestrianised strip that anchors Patong's nightlife from early evening until dawn. Day visitors come for parasailing, jet-ski rentals, and snorkel trips to nearby Coral Island, 7 km offshore.

Where to Stay in Patong

Hotels cluster in three zones. The beachfront strip offers direct sand access and premium rates. Rat-U-Thit Road, one block inland, holds mid-range and budget hotels with smaller footprints. North Patong, toward Kalim Bay, is quieter and suits travelers wanting shorter walking distances to the beach with less street noise. Most hotels in Patong can arrange airport transfers from Phuket International Airport, approximately 40 km north.

• Best months: November through April; the southwest monsoon runs May–October with rough surf and some hotel closures.
• Getting around: Tuk-tuks and ride-hail apps (Grab) cover Patong; agree fares before boarding tuk-tuks.
