Fingal Hotel

Perched on Alexandra Dock in Leith, Fingal is a converted lighthouse tender — once operated by the Northern Lighthouse Board — now fitted with twenty-three cabins that retain polished brass fittings and teak deck details from its working life.

The Lighthouse Bar occupies the former engine room; the restaurant draws on Scottish coastal produce with a menu that rotates seasonally. A private events space doubles as a dining room for exclusive hire, rare for a vessel of this size.

Leith's Shore district sits a short walk along the quay, with its independent restaurants and bars. The Edinburgh city centre is roughly three miles north by taxi or the frequent Lothian Bus 16 route, making the dock a genuinely detached base rather than a central one.
